The thinking shouldn’t disappear when the conversation ends
For more than 20 years, Christine's work has put her in rooms with business owners, CEOs, managers and emerging leaders.
The same questions, patterns, tools and distinctions kept returning. Some became phrases, some became worksheets, some became frameworks and some were questions that changed the direction of a conversation.
The Collection gathers that thinking and translates it into something leaders can actually use, whether or not Christine is in the room.
The story behind the work
Two careers. One rather useful education.
Before I became a business and executive coach, I spent more than twenty years as a lawyer. That career took me into some impressive businesses and boardrooms, names such as Toyota, Motorola and Reebok among them.
It did not, incidentally, teach me how to manage people.
That education came later.
Over the next twenty-plus years as a coach, I sat alongside business owners, executives and emerging leaders while they dealt with the much messier reality: people who don’t do what they said they would do, managers who solve everything themselves, difficult conversations everyone would rather avoid, dashboards nobody uses and beautifully worded strategies that somehow fail to survive contact with Monday morning.

Somewhere across those two careers I became what my clients now call The Corporate Talk Translator.
I learned to take the complicated language of business and leadership and ask a much more useful question:
“Yes. But what does that actually mean we’re going to do?”
A little more personally
Born in Preston. Shaped by Manchester. Sydney adopted.
I was born in Preston in the north of England and moved to Manchester when I went to Manchester University at 18. Manchester remained home until much later in life.
I arrived in Sydney in 2007 and, rather wonderfully, never left. Australia became home and I eventually became a very proud Australian citizen.
The accent survived.

Who is Christine Beard?
Christine Beard spent more than 20 years as a lawyer before beginning a second career as a leadership practitioner and business coach. The Leadership Collection brings the recurring questions, distinctions and tools from more than 20 years of coaching work into a useful public library.
What does Corporate Talk Translator mean?
It describes Christine's habit of turning abstract leadership language into something observable: a specific question, decision, conversation, standard, mechanism or next action.
Why did Christine create the Leadership Collection?
She wanted the useful thinking from a leadership conversation to keep working after the conversation ended. The Collection translates those questions, tools and distinctions into something leaders can actually use, whether or not Christine is in the room.
Is the Leadership Collection the same as coaching?
No. It grew out of Christine's coaching and leadership work, but it is designed as a set of tools, videos and resources that leaders can use independently.
